Home Recording: I Wish You Were Mine

Here's part 8 of my home recording series; part 7 is here.

This song is about someone trying to win their lover back and not succeeding. I think it's one of the best songs I've recorded; everything seems to fit together pretty well. I'm particularly proud of the instrumental and the stereo separation during the chorus.

I Wish You Were Mine
copyright 1988 by Graham Glass

I had the chance of a lifetime,
To spend it all with you.
I fooled around and threw it all away,
What was I to do?

So I invited you to stay tonight,
Hoping to win your heart.
Those eyes are telling me that somebody else,
Has taken my part.

And if you were mine I would be so happy.
I wish you were mine as I feel so alone.
But as it is, you are his for the moment.
Come back to me girl,
You give me the world.

I want you in the pale morning sky.
I want you in the night.
I see you in everything I do.
Don't turn out my light.

And if you were mine I would be so happy.
I wish you were mine as I feel so alone.
But as it is, you are his for the moment.
Come back to me girl,
You give me the world.

Have you missed me baby?
Have you missed me baby?

Sometimes it's funny,
And sometimes it's sad,
Thinking of moments,
That we never had.
I hope that time will wash away,
These empty feelings.

We've sat and talked 'til the morning.
I understand your view.
You won't forgive me, you'll never be back.
I know that it's true.

And if you were mine I would be so happy.
I wish you were mine as I feel so alone.
But as it is, you are his forever.
Goodbye to you girl,
You gave me the world.

[instrumental]

I wish you were mine...
I wish you were mine...

Destiny

  • Destiny is my science fiction movie about the future of humanity. It's an epic, similar in breadth and scope to 2001: A Space Odyssey.
