According to the latest New Scientist magazine, new ice samples have shown that the cooling period preceding the last ice age took place over a span of 5,000 years. The movie Day After Tomorrow was based on a theory that the cooling period was closer to 100 years, which was influenced by a ice sample that has now been shown to be flawed.
