I often visit a site called ChangeThis, which showcases a variety of manifestos contributed by a wide range of contributors. One of the best recent ones is called The Liberty Manifesto, written by P.J. O'Rourke who is a research fellow at the Cato Institute. The writing is intelligent, humorous and thought-provoking on the topic of freedom, clearly taking the position that Government should be minimalist. One of my favorite quotes is "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." Ayn Rand would have been proud.
A lovely and touching philosophy, that.
